`We are proud that we have in Palilula municipal territory an institution that have been active for 61 years and successfully achieving educational and pedagogical mission, respects diversity, tolerance and democracy` - said Boban Džunić, president of Palilula, while welcoming participants at the sixth, Scientific-practical conference "I listen and I speak`, successfully organized by the school and boarding school" Bubanj ". The application of inclusive education in our society, which sees education through the diverse needs of students, tailored to each student, underlines the role of the school. From your academic conference, said the president Džunić, is expected one new step towards improving the treatment of young people with disabilities and developmental disorders and early detection of hearing loss in children.

In addition to local experts in otolaryngology, psychiatry and other fields, in the work of this year's conference attended also the guests from Slovenia, Bulgaria, the Republic of Serbia, Macedonia. Around 200 participants of this scientific-practical conference exchanged experiences and knowledge, with an emphasis on hearing loss in children and their harmonic development.

"The main objective of the meeting" listening and talking, "a gathering of experts that deal with children with mental disabilities. Here are therapists, psychiatrists, representatives of local government, and we all work together to help this category of children, teacher of special education, said Snezana Čarapić, Director of the School and boarding school "Bubanj" in Nis. Our school was founded in 1953 as a school and home for deaf children. Today it is a modern institution that applies modern technical means and methods in the treatment of people with many disorders and disabilities and is an example of good practice.

School and home of deaf children in Nis, since 1974 was moved to a new, modern and fully equipped facility in settlement "Ledena stena" that meets all the criteria for the quality and successful education of the students. According to the principal Snežane Čarapić, the school space has 18 classrooms, four cabinets, the teacher's office, library, area for preparation of teachers and educators for work and gymnasium. A team of experts in counseling, which consists of psychologists and social workers, help to detected early deafness in children viewed from several aspects and propose adequate solutions. The school house has 22 bedrooms. The school has in recent years put a lot of effort and resources to create adequate conditions for teaching in high school, especially for practical training. In order for children to learn speech and language, acquired basic education and eventually become hairdressers, bakers, locksmiths and sewing textiles, in this educational institution in Nis, 20 teachers of special education take care.
